General

On this page you find links to different Genealogy sites. On the Dutch page there is also a link to a programm which translate genealogy words from english into dutch. You can use it also for other languages. If you need more information or you have some information for me, please contact me.

Information of the Baltus-family I have from Bill Baltus, Samuel Defauwes, Johan Hubert Baltus and from my own investigations. The information about the other families is mostly from my own investigations.

For a lot of events I checked the information against different resources, but I have still a long way to go. In first instance I had also the sources of the information on the net, but I thought it was better to remove it. If you want specific information about an event, please contact me.

I have also introduced a Baltus newsgroup on the internet. Acces to this newsgroup is only for the descendants of Joes Baltus, born around 1549. If you want access, please email me.

At my Yeartables site you can access data which I collected in the past. You can use the information freely and it is a first entrance to the original data.

hellestrop-aubel.

Our tree goes back to 1500 and starts with Baltus van Hellesdorp, who was born in Aubel. He lived in Hellestrop. On the Satelitephoto you see the actual situation. The picture is from Google Maps.

This map show the area where my ancestors lived in the 17th and 18th century.Limburg. The whole map you can find here.

Aubel(B) lies about 15 km south-east from Vaals, the place where my grandfather was born. On the map you see some places where my ancestors came from. I took the map from Locatienet. Some of the early information I got from Samuel Defauwes, which you can find in another branch of the Baltus-family.

Till 1692 my ancestors lived and worked in Aubel. In 1699 one of my ancestors, Thomas Baltus, was born in Montzen. His son, Clemens Baltus (born 1731), moved, via Homburg to Vaals, together with his son Thomas Baltus (born 1765). Thomas married in Aachen and some of his children were born in Laurensberg.

baltuslousberg

One of the oldest mariage entries of Baltus in the churchbook of Vaals is the one between Clemens Baltus and Gertrudis Lousberg on September 4, 1764. According this document and the death certificate Clemens Baltus came from Hombourg, but according my information he was born in Montzen. So I have still to do some work! Also it is not certain who the parents are from Gertrude Lousberg. According the death certificate they were Johannes Lousberg and Anna Johanna Peters or Pieters. But when you look to the birth date, there was no child born in 1738 with these parents, but there was born a Gertrude Lousberg with Johannes Lousberg and Johanna Vanduren (van Duren) as parents.

I found also a message about a maid which died when she fall from a cherrytree. It was dated August 26, 1816! Furthermore I saw a rent contract which was made for Thomas Baltus and his wife Maria Theresia Göbgens (Jöpis) in 1822. This contract was made under assignment of King Willem with his seal is on the paper.
